For years, Aquarion water used copper sulphate as part of their algae control regime in multiple reservoirs throughout Connecticut and New York. In 2016, Aquarion deployed 9 SolaRaft-QDB™ in three different reservoirs in Western Connecticut.
The goal for utilizing ultrasound in the North Stamford, Putnam and Mianus reservoirs was to reduce the need for copper sulphate treatments to take care of a blue-green algae issue. Secondarily, Aquarion aimed to reduce taste and odor issues in the water prior to the treatment plant, therefore reducing the need for additional chemical treatments.
Four SolaRaft-QDB™ systems were deployed in North Stamford reservoir, three in Putnum reservoir and two in Mianus Reservoir.
